Job description

Key purpose

To manage and deliver successfully bids that result in a tender win from the initial receipt of the opportunity through to final tender submission, any following presentations, and tender negotiations with the client. To effectively and comprehensively ensure that all tenders are compliant with the client’s specification and are correctly estimated to ensure that the estimated profit margin is in line with the Company’s requirements and tender procedures. To add commercial value through the analysis of internal and external financial levers and through sharing pricing best practice across the wider network. To lead on key cross-department projects and act as interface between Sales, Mobilisation, Operations and the Business generally.

Role and responsibilities

  • Manage the estimating team to ensure that tenders are accurately completed in accordance with the client’s and company’s requirements
  • Manage the Sales team’s administrator to ensure all weekly and monthly sales reports are produced accurately and in a timely manner
  • Offer support, guidance and mentoring to the Sales team where necessary
  • Manage the team’s workload to ensure sufficient time is allocated to produce accurate bids
  • Effectively manage the pipeline to identify and win new contracts whilst advising the Managing Director of whether the tender should be pursued or rejected
  • Review and write all PQQ submissions to the respective clients
  • Manage all tender portals from various clients
  • Manage OJEU leads
  • Analyse all documentation to ensure that the necessary research has been done
  • Write clear, concise, and articulate tender proposals and clarifications
  • Manage the submission of the tender, attending internal and external tender meetings with either the client or internal operations as and when appropriate
  • Ensure the completion of all relevant and associated bid documentation, including presentations for the bid proposal are completed within an initial agreed timescale
  • Liaise with the Managing Director to ensure any tenders are indicative of our business and the individual client’s needs and objectives
  • Provide feedback to the relevant departments if either successful or unsuccessful with the bids regarding commercial, technical, or financial performance
  • Ensure that work processes and models are adequately documented, validated and stored within a clear directory structure with complete version history
  • Act as an advisor and resource for directors on pricing decisions
  • Support the development of a company-wide pricing strategy
  • Identify areas for systems and operational improvement within the team; implement and measure themReview existing pricing agreements to identify opportunities for enhancing current and future performance
  • Develop innovative pricing propositions that enhance practice group abilities to win profitable work
  • Support the development of metrics and reporting tools to clearly illustrate trends and analysis of pricing
  • Meet objectives by leading pricing projects
  • Build client/stakeholder relationships
  • Adhere to the company’s and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as determined by the company
